The export of Brazilian footwear products increased significantly in the first five months

In the first five months of this year, the export volume and export value of Brazilian footwear products increased significantly, because American buyers began to seek footwear suppliers outside Asian countries.

According to the data released by the Brazilian Footwear Association (abacal ç ADOS), from January to may, the export volume of Brazilian footwear products was 64.24 million pairs, realizing an export revenue of 538.72 million US dollars. Compared with the same period in 2021, the export volume and export volume increased by 30.3% and 66.5% respectively. Among them, the total export volume of footwear in May increased by 19.8% year-on-year, and the export volume increased by 59.5%.

Haroldo Ferreira, President of the Brazilian Footwear Association, stressed that the substantial growth of exports to the U.S. market had played a decisive role. Compared with the same period before the epidemic in 2019, the export volume of footwear products increased by 80% in the first five months. In the first five months of this year, Brazil exported 10million pairs of footwear products to the United States, with an export volume of 146.3 million euros, an increase of 87.2% and 108.6% respectively compared with the same period in 2021.

Ferreira further explained that, on the one hand, the Sino US trade war has affected the import of Chinese products by U.S. buyers. On the other hand, the rising freight costs from Asia have prompted buyers to look for suppliers with closer geographical locations. Therefore, as the largest footwear supplier outside Asia, Brazil has become an important choice for U.S. buyers. In addition, exports to South America also played an important role, and their export level increased by 30% compared with that before the epidemic.

In the first five months, Argentina became the second major destination market for Brazilian footwear exports, with exports of 6.82 million pairs of shoes and US $74.62 million respectively. Compared with the same period last year, it increased by 64% and 93.7% respectively. Followed by France, the export volume was 4million pairs (an increase of 31%), and the export volume was US $29.4 million (an increase of 25.2%).
